# Export traces to New Relic

> Send Checkly traces to New Relic with an Ingest - License key.

Before you start, read the prerequisites on the [OTLP export page](https://www.checklyhq.com/docs/integrations/observability/traces/otlp.md) and check [what is sent](https://www.checklyhq.com/docs/integrations/observability/traces/otlp.md#what-is-sent).
This page only covers the values New Relic needs.

1. Get the endpoint for your New Relic region. US is `https://otlp.nr-data.net/v1/traces`, EU is `https://otlp.eu01.nr-data.net/v1/traces`, JP is `https://otlp.jp.nr-data.net/v1/traces` and FedRAMP is `https://gov-otlp.nr-data.net/v1/traces`.
2. Get the key. In New Relic, go to **Administration** > **API Keys**, create a key, and set the key type to **Ingest - License**. Copy the key.
3. Paste the values into Checkly. On the [Traces settings page](https://app.checklyhq.com/settings/account/traces), turn on **Enable exporting traces**, paste the URL, and add the header from the table below.
4. Find the spans. In New Relic, the spans appear under service `checkly`.

| Header name | Value |
| - | - |
| `api-key` | `<Ingest - License key>` |

New Relic limits each request to 1 MB.

New Relic documents the endpoints in its [OTLP best practices](https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/opentelemetry/best-practices/opentelemetry-otlp/).

To see failed runs, filter on the attribute `checkly.check.status` with the value `FAILED`.
The [OTLP export page](https://www.checklyhq.com/docs/integrations/observability/traces/otlp.md) has the span schema.
